Best Credit Cards
Rewards are funded by interchange and interest. Choose for how you actually pay, not the sign-up offer.
Last updated: 2026-08-11
A credit card is two products in one: a payment instrument and a credit facility. Which one you use determines which terms matter.
If you clear the balance monthly, APR is close to irrelevant and rewards, fees and FX charges decide. If you carry a balance, interest almost always outweighs any reward.
How we chose
Wallcrest shortlists are built from published, verifiable provider documentation and regulatory registers. We do not accept payment for placement or ranking.
- Representative APR
- The rate published with its assumed credit limit and the proportion of customers who receive it.
- Annual fee against usage
- Whether the fee is recovered by realistic annual spending, not maximum theoretical spending.
- Foreign transaction charges
- The percentage applied to non-domestic currency spending.
- Reward terms
- Earn rates, caps, expiry and redemption restrictions exactly as published.
- Protections
- Statutory and scheme purchase protections available in the reader's jurisdiction.

We're finalising our verified provider data for this category. Wallcrest publishes fees, rates, minimums and terms only after checking them against the provider's own documentation and recording the date we checked. Rather than show unverified figures, we leave this table empty until that work is complete.
“Visit site” buttons are placeholders until commercial relationships exist and are disclosed. No provider has paid for inclusion here, because there is nothing to pay for yet.
See how we review for the verification process.
What to weigh before you choose
- Interest beats rewards
- Reward rates on consumer cards are small next to typical revolving interest. Carrying a balance reverses the maths.
- Applications affect your credit file
- Multiple applications in a short window can be visible to lenders.
